Search Logan County Recent Arrests

Finding Logan County recent arrests means piecing together several official channels. No single list holds everything. Dated sheriff releases come first. Then a custody check, a court docket, or a records request fills in the gaps. That order matters, because an arrest announcement and current jail custody are two different facts. Anyone asking who was arrested in Logan County can also work through the city police. Just find the department tied to the incident.

Logan County Recent Arrest Channels

The Logan County Sheriff's Office keeps no searchable jail roster on its site. What it does offer is a News and Updates archive of dated media releases. Some of these releases summarize arrests made around Logan County, naming the agency involved and the time of the arrest. They are announcements, though, not a live custody list. Someone mentioned in one release could already be out on bond or transferred elsewhere.

Pick the tool that fits the question. The sheriff's release archive works best for public announcements about an arrest. For custody status and alerts, VINELink Custody Check is the stronger option. Once a case has been filed, Judici tracks it through the courts. Need same-day timing? Arrests Last 24 Hours covers those limits. For a longer arrest trail, the Police Blotter pulls the multi-day record together.

Window or source What it can show Main limit
Sheriff media releases Dated arrest summaries, agency and alleged charge Not a live roster or fixed daily feed
VINE Participating custody status and change alerts Not a full arrest report or photo archive
Judici Filed case events and later disposition Not proof of present jail custody
Written FOIA request Existing booking, arrest, jail, or photo records Redactions, fees, and response time may apply

When Logan Arrests Reach the Web

A booking and a web post run on different clocks. Officers must finish field work, transport, intake, identification, charging paperwork, and any medical or safety screening first. The sheriff may issue a dated release afterward. The office promises no hourly update cycle. One release posted September 2 described two early-morning arrests, and another dated August 12 covered several arrests from August 11. Same-day posting happens, but nothing guarantees it. The official sheriff home page shows the newest releases.

The announcement page is not a live list of everyone in the jail. If a new arrest is missing from it, check VINE and the jail directly. Silence there does not mean no booking occurred.

Logan County Jail Roster Reality

The official Jail Information page gives the jail location. It also lists a phone contact. From there it points toward VINE, the Illinois Department of Corrections, and Judici. No public roster search appears anywhere on it. That gap matters. An independent page calling itself a "Logan County inmate search" is not a sheriff database. Several states have their own Logan County, which invites mix-ups. The official jail page documents the routes that exist and the roster interface that does not.

Match the source to the person's status. VINE covers participating local custody, IDOC covers sentenced state custody, and Judici covers court filings. For a current local custody question, call the jail at 217-732-2156; the sheriff's records line is 217-732-4159.

Search detail Where to use it
Full legal name and birth details VINE person search; verify more than a name match
Arrest date and agency Sheriff or city FOIA request
Case number or name Judici and Circuit Clerk
IDOC number or name IDOC custody search
  1. Check dated sheriff releases for the event.
  2. Use VINE for custody and alerts.
  3. Call the jail if a time-sensitive status remains unclear.
  4. Check Judici after a case is filed.
  5. Request the underlying record from its agency.

Logan Arrest Alerts Are Not Bookings

The sheriff's NIXLE page asks residents to text a ZIP code to 888777. That signup covers community alerts. Expect emergency, road, weather, and public-safety notices there. It is not a person search, custody roster, or booking-photo feed. The Logan County, Illinois sheriff lists no mobile app that fills the roster gap either. An app from another state's Logan County sheriff should never stand in for local custody facts. Use VINE for one person's custody changes and NIXLE for community-wide alerts.

Where Logan Arrests Are Published

Start with official channels before local news or independent indexes. A sheriff release is one agency's statement at a single point in time. VINE is a custody-notification system. A court docket records a case after filing. Stretch none of them into a claim they cannot support.

Channel Photos? Official? Access and caution
Sheriff releases No photos observed Yes Dated posts, not a live roster
VINE Not a photo source State-supported Custody search and alerts
Judici No booking gallery Court access partner Cases and dispositions
New Herald No photos observed No Periodic report; verify officially
Mugshots.com Logan index May show images No Potentially stale archive
ArrestLogs No official feed No Limited monthly archive

The New Herald arrest report stands out among local news options, listing arrest details and pointing readers to Judici. Older Lincoln Daily News reports combined several county agencies, but an aged archive is not a current official feed. Match any third-party result back to the arresting agency and the court date.

Recent Arrests by City

City police records and county booking records answer different parts of one event. Lincoln Police, Atlanta Police, and Mount Pulaski Police may hold an incident or arrest report. Each one is written by their own officers. Anyone held locally is booked through Logan County Jail. Custody checks happen at the county level, not at city hall. No city here runs a verified live roster. Each city page names its police contact instead.

Logan County Arrest Record Fields

An arrest record describes one enforcement event. A jail booking record documents intake after the arrest, and a court file opens another stage once charges are filed. Logan County's FOIA categories confirm what the sheriff may hold: arrest reports, booking records, inmate booking information, jail population reports, press releases, dispatch records, incident reports, citations, crash reports, and audio or video. Not every field is public in every case.

Field What it means
Name and identifying data Identity recorded at intake; check similar names
Booking or arrest date When the event or intake was recorded
Agency and location Office and place tied to the event
Charge or warrant basis An charge, not a conviction
Bond and release data Status that can change after review
Booking photograph An identification image when maintained
Court reference Later case, hearing, or disposition
Booked does not mean guilty. Charges can be amended, reduced, dismissed, or resolved by acquittal. Read the court disposition before drawing a conclusion.

Logan Arrest Mugshots and Photos

Logan County posts no official jail roster. There is no booking-photo gallery either. The sheriff's press releases rarely show photographs of people arrested. A booking photo may still exist in an agency file. Illinois FOIA lets anyone ask, and the sheriff's record categories cover photographs and booking information. Getting the image depends on what the office holds. An exemption, a sealing order, a juvenile rule, or an active investigation can block release.

For anyone sentenced to state custody, the IDOC Individual in Custody Search is the right locator. IDOC keeps custody photographs by policy. Not every public result shows a downloadable image. Federal sources work differently. The BOP and the U.S. Marshals are not mugshot galleries, and the Marshals generally refuse to release prisoner photos. Mugshots.com has a Logan County, Illinois section, but it is an unofficial archive that may run stale. RecentlyBooked, Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone list no verified Logan County, Illinois page, so never substitute Ohio or Kentucky.

Request Logan County Arrest Records

Written requests are the rule. The Sheriff's FOIA page lays out the process. You can email foia@sheriffloganil.gov, use the mail, or deliver a request to Logan County Sheriff's Office, Attn: FOIA Officer, 911 Pekin Street, Lincoln, IL 62656. Phone requests don't count. Kayla Davis serves as FOIA Officer at 217-732-4159. The office handles requests weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays, though the lobby stays open around the clock.

Logan County Sheriff FOIA request policy page

The first 50 black-and-white pages are free. After that, pages cost 15 cents each, and color runs 25 cents. Electronic media and certified copies are billed at actual cost. Most requests get an answer within five business days. An extension of up to five more is possible.

  1. Name the person, date range, and arresting agency.
  2. Ask for a specific arrest report, booking record, or maintained photograph.
  3. Request an electronic copy and lawful redactions.
  4. Ask for advance notice of costs.
  5. If denied, read the exemption and review rights.

Juvenile Arrest Records Stay Protected

Juvenile privacy is a hard limit, not a gap to work around. Illinois FOIA section 2.15 shields juvenile arrest information. The state's Logan County jail inspection checklist says the same. Juvenile records are flatly barred from disclosure. Don't rebuild a withheld name or image from social posts, rumor, or nearby adult records. Age rules can turn on legal status. They also turn on the type of proceeding. Only the agency or court can say whether a specific record is public. A missing juvenile entry stays protected. It stays that way unless an official source releases it lawfully.

Illinois Arrest Photo Law

Illinois runs arrest-photo access through the Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Section 2.15 sets a 72-hour clock. Specified arrest facts must be released on that clock, subject to the section's terms. That covers basic arrest details plus a photograph when one exists. Disclosure must not be barred. Exceptions protect juvenile matters, sealed files, private data, and active investigations. They also cover safety interests and records governed by another law. The official Illinois statute page carries the controlling language.

Illinois FOIA arrest information statute

Statutory text beats an aggregator's summary. Section 2.15(e) also limits law-enforcement publication of arrest photographs on social media in many cases, subject to exceptions. It doesn't make every kept image a secret.

Correcting an Arrest Photo Record

Erasing an agency record and pulling a photo off a private website are two different fights. Illinois courts publish official expungement and sealing forms. Expungement can destroy or return eligible records as an order directs. Sealing cuts public access but keeps lawful access alive. Eligibility turns on the case result and record history. The Illinois Courts forms are the sound starting point.

State law also bars operators from charging a fee to remove, correct, or modify criminal-record information like a booking photo. Never pay a removal demand. Mugshots.com publishes a free route for correction, disposition updates, and qualifying removals. ArrestLogs offers no verified photo-removal workflow. Send a free, documented request where a policy exists, and fix the originating agency or court record first when the source is wrong.

Logan Jail Capacity Numbers Differ

Logan County's jail capacity numbers don't agree. The 2024 IDOC inspection says the facility was built in 1978. That report lists capacity at 58. It also gives preliminary approval for added detention rooms, outdoor recreation, and medical space. Sheriff web materials use 53 and 65 elsewhere. The figures may measure different layouts or dates. None is safe to quote as one current number without confirmation. Capacity won't tell you who is held today. Use VINE or call the jail for person-specific custody questions.

Older Logan Arrest Records

A vanished post doesn't mean the file was destroyed. Logan County publishes no stated retention period for booking records or photos. Illinois local agencies need disposal authority through the Local Records Act and the Local Records Commission. Ask the sheriff for its schedule and date range.

Older cases split by source. Go to the sheriff or city for police records. The Circuit Clerk holds case files. The Illinois Regional Archives Depository indexes Logan County criminal files from 1857 through 1945. Pre-1857 files were lost in a courthouse fire, the index notes. That archive preserves history, while VINE and the jail answer today's custody questions.

Logan Arrest Posts Changed Homes

Old county search results still point to a retired Logan County Sheriff News category. Media releases now live on the newer sheriff website. A dead link can simply reflect that move. The government record behind a Logan County arrest post usually survives the shift. Check the current News and Updates archive first. Try its date-specific media-release pattern too. If the period you need is missing, file a FOIA request.

Logan Arrest Warrants and Wanted Claims

The Logan County Sheriff's Office offers no online warrant portal and no live most-wanted gallery. Lincoln Daily News ran a wanted feature back in 2002 and 2003. Treat those old pages as history, not current status. A warrant can be issued, served, recalled, sealed, or resolved at any point. Call the sheriff at 217-732-4159. The Circuit Clerk, Judici, or a lawyer can help. For tips, the Lincoln/Logan Crime Stoppers page takes confidential or anonymous calls at 217-732-3000 and may pay a reward when information leads to an arrest. It is not a warrant lookup. Never approach someone you believe is wanted. The sheriff has also warned about scammers demanding warrant payments through kiosks, so verify any demand using an independently obtained official number.

After a Logan County Arrest

The Logan County Circuit Clerk keeps case files for the 11th Judicial Circuit and links its records to Judici. A docket can show a first appearance, a bond decision, arraignment, an amended count, a plea, a dismissal, a trial result, a sentence, or a warrant recall. Arraignment is the hearing where formal charges are read. Disposition simply means the case result. Those later entries add context a booking release cannot. Visit the clerk at 601 Broadway Street in Lincoln. The phone number is 217-735-2376. Public terminals there provide access, and copies of current, non-impounded records follow the office's rules.

Bond details shift over time. A judge can review the amount set at booking, swap one release condition for another, or make the whole question moot once the case ends. Illinois now runs on pretrial-release procedures. An old cash-bail label no longer tells the story. A saved Logan County arrest post is therefore a poor guide to current bond terms. The court docket and the clerk hold the order that controls today.

Access has firm limits too. Juvenile records, sealed cases, adoption files, and other impounded material stay private no matter what name shows up in a news report. A lawful redaction is not a red flag. It just means the custodian applied a disclosure rule. Online dockets run incomplete as well. Some files are sealed. With a common name, confirm identity before drawing conclusions. When a docket lacks a document, ask the clerk whether a public copy exists and what fee applies rather than guessing from a short event code.

Custody Beyond Logan County

IDOC tracks people in Illinois state custody, usually after a sentence or transfer. Search by name, birth date, or IDOC number. Compare identifiers before trusting a match. The federal BOP locator covers prisoners from 1982 forward. It may show current or released status, but it is not a Logan feed and posts no booking-photo gallery. ICE runs its own immigration detainee locator. Logan County lists no ICE contract or local feed, though that alone does not rule out a detainer.

Custody moves across systems. A booking may surface in VINE, a case in Judici, and a sentenced person later in IDOC, while federal pretrial custody involves the U.S. Marshals Service and BOP handles the prison stage. Pick the source that matches the stage instead of treating each one as Logan County mugshots.
